The taste of black sapote is often described as mildly sweet and creamy, with hints of caramel, honey, and butternut squash, and sometimes a subtle chocolate-like flavour. Some people note that it can resemble molasses or dates, giving it a rich, dessert-like quality. The flavour is generally gentle and not overpowering, making it suitable for blending into smoothies, desserts, or baked goods.

May arrive mature but hard. Do not refrigerate before it is ripe. Store at 20 degrees or above for optimal ripening. Once the skin of the fruit is more brown than green, Peel or cut it open, and scoop out the flesh. The skin is also edible!
